I used to play this game on the Atari Lynx, where it was one of my favorites, and not I'm glad to go back and stretch my controller on the "big" screen.  The premise of a prince transformed to an ape with deadly spit who needs to rescue his princess is a bit odd.  But this makes for a strangely appealing, not too difficult platform title.

The game stays fresh by mixing jumping and shooting (well, spitting) with decent power ups, and a nice assortment of puzzle areas versus dexterity areas.  The control is very clean.  Some of the power ups are fun, like sneakers (for extra high jumping) and spit balls that bounce around.  The graphics are plain but serviceable, as is the sound.  Toki has a few digitized sound effects that work better here than I've seen in other games.  The boards tend to be pretty long and varied, which is something else that I like.
