Sonic Adventure is a fun and epic game that finally takes Sonic into the third dimension. As always, Sonic is fighting his nemesis Eggman who pilots different mechanical contraptions. Sonic is joined by his friends Tails and Knuckles as well as relative newcomers Amy, Big the cat, and ED-209 (or whatever the robot is called!) You can eventually play as all six characters and—if you complete each section—play as Super Sonic and get the real ending.

Each character plays differently, but playing as Sonic is the main event. In translating the gameplay to 3D, the courses have a race track feel to them. The pinball levels are fun, and the bosses are a good challenge. The game is fun, but favors spectacle over gameplay.

The graphics are great for the most part. Some areas are beautiful while others are a bit lacking. The music and sound are a mixed bag. While some of the songs are great, there are far too many blue-american-hard-rock song for my taste. The controls are good for the action segments, but can be awkward during the overworld exploration.

Overall, Sonic Adventure is a good game with nice graphics and plenty to do, but is too generic to be a top tier title.
