Prince of Persia is a game that needs no introduction. A brilliant game ported to almost every system in the known universe (the Palm Pilot version is coming, you just know it is), it took the platform game and made sense of the genre.

The game has no silly patterns to memorize and the control is so precise that it was always the fault of bad playing, not bad programming, when you screwed up. A cinematic game with excellent roto-scoped animation, Prince of Persia has a nice balance of exploration, traps, and sword fighting; all controllable with a joystick and a single button.

The Amiga port is one of my favorites as many versions added too much detail to the main character, thus defeating the purpose of roto-scoping in the first place. The IBM version is also excellent.
