If you love Super Metroid for Super Nintendo, you
owe it to yourself to get Metroid Fusion. The story
is quite good and thankfully different from the previous
Metroid games (for example the game doesn't take
place on Planet Zebes and Mother Brain is nowhere to be
found).
The music and sound effects are solid, but won't blow
you away. Graphics and controls are top notch. The numerous
boss monsters are particularly impressive and can be quite
challenging. One change you'll notice from previous Metroids
is the addition of a computer navigator. The computer
will guide you through the game, lessening the need for
exploration. This didn't bother me much, as there were
still a lot of secret areas to be found.
Be sure to find the secret passage ways between sectors
before fighting the final boss if you want to fully power
up your character. I didn't and had to go through the
game twice, as the final boss is TOUGH. That I went through
the game twice tells you how much I enjoyed Metroid
Fusion.
-Ben Langberg
P.S. If you've never played a Metroid game before, play
Metroid Zero Mission first and then Super Metroid
before this game for the best progression.
