Shadow of the Beast is a platform/puzzle
game that was a relatively early release for the Lynx.
While I picked up a lot of my Lynx games well after Atari
stopped supporting the system, I remember buying this
one back when it was current. And I wasn't disappointed.
This game scores points for graphics and control. The
sound is nothing to write home about, but it's unobtrusive.
I enjoy the level of difficulty. This isn't the hardest
game I've ever played by any stretch of the imagination,
for me at least the difficulty is balanced enough to let
me make decent progress without getting bored.
I also like the fact that it's not exactly linear, in
that you can stray down bad paths. The puzzles and designs
keep the game fresh throughout.
